Construction Worker Killed While Crossing Street

On Monday, September 22, a construction worker was killed in Lakeland while crossing the street. This was a postlude to a lady and two children being hurt (one of the children eventually passing away) just a few days before.
We can all learn some very important lessons from these examples so that we became the next unintended victims. Always be aware of your surroundings, especially when crossing a street. The car that is coming is many times bigger, many times faster and many times more dangerous than you are.
Be respectful of that car and make sure it is far away from you before you make the decision to cross the street. When crossing the street do so quickly and with purpose. Do not stop as you are crossing, make sure to get all the way across. If there is any concern at all that you will not be able to cross safely before the car gets to your location, wait. Waiting an extra few minutes for a safe time to cross can mean saving a trip to the emergency room.
