In what seems to be a continuing story throughout central Florida there was another crash involving only one car, the driver lost control and over-corrected, causing the vehicle to spin. The driver of the vehicle was badly burned and formal identification is still awaited by the Florida Highway Patrol. There were two passengers, Christopher Michael Richards of Brandon and Andrew Santilli of Valrico. Both passengers were 20 years old. No one in the car was wearing their seatbelt, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. This incident is very similar to one a few weeks ago in the Lake Wales area. Late night/early morning, both on State Road 60. Both vehicles over-corrected when they drifted into the median. In both vehicles, no one was wearing their seatbelt. In both vehicles at least one person died. The value of seatbelts in saving lives can not be overemphasized. There is a strong possibility that these passengers could be alive today if they had been wearing their seatbelts. Lilly, O'Toole & Brown sees car crash victims every day and in almost every case seatbelts help minimize injuires and save lives.
