You Could be in Danger in Your Toyota

Have you ever wondered what you would do if the gas pedal in your car became stuck while pressing down on the accelerator? That scary situation is what many Toyota owners have recently faced. As a matter of fact, Toyota Motor Corp. has recently recalled over 4 million vehicles due to this specific problem.

The Toyota recall is a result of a fatal car accident in which a highway patrol officer and three members of his family lost their lives when the accelerator reportedly got stuck, causing the Toyota to travel at speeds reaching 120 mph. The car struck a SUV, veered off an embankment and flipped over several times, catching on fire.

The NHTSA determined that a rubber all-weather mat in the vehicle was longer than should be, possibly causing the accelerator pedal to be snared or covered.

Reports indicate that at least five deaths have been linked to floor mats manufactured by Toyota. There have also been at least 100 other incidents reported.

Toyota has issued the recall to fix the problem in certain models that include the Camry, Avalon, Prius, Tacoma, and the Tundra, to name a few. If you own a Toyota, you should contact Toyota immediately to determine if you are driving a recalled model.
