J. Ron Smith Joins Lilly, O'Toole & Brown, LLP

LAKELAND (June 10, 2005)- Lilly, O'Toole & Brown, LLP announces that prominent attorney J. Ron Smith has joined the firm.

J. Ron Smith was born and raised in Wauchula, Florida. He served in the United States Marine Corps before graduating from the University of Florida in 1962. He attained his Juris Doctorate degree from Stetson University College of Law in 1967. Thereafter, he clerked at the Second District Court of Appeals and served Hardee County as its Prosecuting Attorney. Since 1970, J. Ron Smith has practiced in Lakeland in the areas of personal injury, wrongful death and medical malpractice.

Mr. Smith is a former President of the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers, having previously served the Academy as a member of the Board of Directors, secretary and treasurer. He is past chairman of the Trial Lawyers Section of the Florida Bar, a sustaining member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, past president of the Lakeland Bar Association, and currently a Supreme Court Certified Civil Court Mediator.
